The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature.
To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul.

President's Message

Dear Members and Garden Enthusiasts,

As I step into the President's position for the 2024-26 term, I find comfort in knowing that SAG is a "Garden" where seeds were sown and carefully tended by the founders of this club, and we, the members, have grown into a strong. active, vibrant group of amazing gardeners and friends.
Without them, taking us through the growing pains, we could not have reached this point.
We are proud to announce that we will celebrate our 10th Anniversary at the end of this term, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for paving the way for us.

A gardener all my life, I still have so much to learn about the wonderful world of gardening.
finding inspiration from my family's love of nature and the outdoors. The interconnectedness between flora, fauna, and humans holds a delicate balance that, as stewards of the earth, we take seriously and passionately. The ever-changing challenges of the environment is one we must all be mindful of. Whether a novice, seasoned, or master gardener, SAG members roll up their sleeves, put on a pair of gloves, some sunscreen and get their hands dirty while finding their work so rewarding.

The Salt Air Gardeners strive to cultivate and follow our mission to grow our love of gardening. increase knowledge of horticulture and the artistic use of plant materials in floral and landscape design, work toward the protection and conservation of wildflowers, wildlife, and our natural resources. and encourage civic beauty, garden beautification and historic preservation.

Our Members continue to maintain long term community projects at The Indian River Life Saving Station, The Bethany-Fenwick Island Chamber of Commerce, Brandywine Senior Living, Delaware Hospice, Barbara K. Brooks Transitional Home, the Ocean View Blue Star Memorial Byway Marker, the Indian River Inlet South Entrance Kiosk, and work with the South Coastal Village Volunteers, FOSCL and the South Coastal Library as well as many other community activities and events. We continue our volunteerism and support many local organizations annually as well.

Not only have we cultivated our gardens, but friendships, too! Through our membership meetings beginning with social time and light refreshments to a lively program, guest speakers, field trips, workshops, activities and events, the bonds and camaraderie continue to grow.

The Salt Air Gardeners offers you a great place to meet people, make friends, get involved and have fun while giving back to the community. I look forward to working with our current SAG members, and invite you to visit us and join as new members and grow with us!
