Meeting Update: Demos and Intros
The Salt Air Gardeners’ fall meetings featured hands-on demonstrations and an introduction to a fascinating houseplant.

In September, member Suzanne Morgis led the group in creating vertical arrangements using flowers and a variety of native plant materials she gathered locally.

In October, Alan Petravic and Koa Kanamee shared their passion for Clivias, the stunning plant that provides gorgeous blooms in an array of colors. The expert duo presented a slide show of their personal collection of more than 400 plants and demonstrated how to divide a Clivia.

Several lucky members won specimens to grow at home.

Holiday Giving Across Sussex County

Each year at the holidays SAG members support a local charity. This year’s donations netted $1,100 for the South Coastal Village Volunteers (SCVV), a non-profit that helps seniors in eastern Sussex County live independently in their homes.

SAG president Oksana Hoey presented a check to SCVV’s head of development, Kathy Green, on December 13th at a ceremony at the Ocean View Town Hall.

Finally, the Brandywine Assisted Living committee spent a day helping residents create festive Santa hats to display on their doors.
