The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul.
— Alfred Austin
As I sit here to write a new President’s Message, I am reviewing everything the Salt Air Gardeners have done since our inception in the fall of 2016. So many great lectures, presentations, demonstrations, and field trips. All these activities allow our members to learn and grow in their knowledge of gardening.
Our projects include the award winning Indian River Life Saving Station, the Bethany–Fenwick Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity, Brandywine Senior Living, the Brooks Transitional home, and our most recent the Bay Forest Project, which give our members a real sense of giving back to the community at home and at large. That feeling is so great and powerful, we invite you to come and experience it for yourself.
Come join us as we continue our journey. Our future is bright, our members skilled and delightful as they endeavor to learn and grow. Our new adventures are leading us to the Broadkill River for a delightful sun set cruise, another successful plant sale to fund our projects, and hopefully our first flower show next year. Put those gloves on, feel the sunshine on your back, listen to your heart smile as you help others. Get connected, get involved, and get ready for a great ride!
